I think he has just moved on to and will be very happy in his new “neighborhood”. Seemed like a very kind soul!
Like I said at my site… I didn’t much care for Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood when I was a kid, and as a teen I found it was a good place to poke fun. But Fred Rogers had a pretty profound affect on those around him – one that focused on integrity, morality, and accountability. He deserves an awful lot of respect.
Fred Rogers was very obviously aware of his own mortality when he made the decision to retire from a life of television production in 2000. He also had to realize that there were many young people depending on his compassionate sense of developmental guidance, and in this it’s a positive thing that the show should continue on.
Though Mr. Rogers may no longer be with us, he can still spread his message to a new generation of children, as well as continue to provide those of us who grew up with him many pleasant and happy memories. His passing is definitely sad, but I wouldn’t call it an ending.
To really understand the profound impact this man had on my generation, let me relate a story:
Mr Rogers was the keynote speaker at my college graduation. The year was 1991 and the Gample Pavillion at the University of Connecticut was packed. It was the College of Liberal Arts adn Sciences graduation. So here we were 21, 22 year old men and women, ready to embark on our lives. Going through this tired old ceremony. Then Mr Rogers came out. The place went >crazy. I’ve been in that building for basketball games and have never heard it so loud. We all just freaked out. It was Mr Rogers. We ALL grew up with him. The stupid sweaters, ridiculous sneakers, lousy puppets and really bad voices. Yet, you know what? 8000 people in that building, on that night, LOVED him. And we still do.
Rest In Peace Mr Rogers. I hope you knew, what you meant to a generation of kids. To me.
Spammers suck… they really really suck. I’m one of them and I deserve to die.
I’m a human being of the the lowest caliber. I not only suck, I suck total ass. And I exist, too, although I’m surprised no one has killed me yet. I don’t need Viagra because I have no penis, but I know that you do!! Even if you think you don’t, you really do. Please send lots of SPAM to my e-mail listed above, since I do love it so.
