Joe Purdy – Wash Away

Posted by Heather On December - 28 - 2008

I just finished watching season one of LOST again. I’d forgotten how good it was, and how addictive too. Even though I’ve seen it before, there were a few scenes that I’d completely forgotten about. Unfortunately, I haven’t been getting much sleep lately… not sure if it’s because of the series or just a coincidence. I think Season 2 is out on loan to someone. Gotta get it back. I feel like Charlie needing a fix. Anyway, here’s the song “Wash Away” from the “Tabula Rasa” episode of LOST: Season 1.

The Singing Dogs – Jingle Bells

Posted by Heather On December - 25 - 2008

I have this song on a 45 with “Oh Susanna” on the reverse side. I got it when I was little and it’s still in a box somewhere. Please forgive me…:

This is my dog Leo in the picture. He doesn’t bark (he howls and whines), but he sure looks festive. :P

Webb Pierce – French Riviera

Posted by Heather On December - 24 - 2008

My Dad has talked about this song for as long as I can remember. Old Webb came up with the name “Mochera” for his French love. The only problem is Moche in French means ugly. Oops! Anyway, I don’t think this song has ever been put on CD so I bought a 45 on eBay and digitized it. Unfortunately, the record was so scratched up that I wasn’t able to remove all the scratches and pops, but my Dad was glad to hear it again after all these years. Enjoy! Or don’t. ;-)

Desi Arnaz – Cuban Cabby from Babalu

Desi Arnaz – Cuban Cabby Lyrics

My horse and carriage is for hire, señor.
For just as long as you desire, señorita.
You want to ride…
Forget the mañana and come to Havana with me.
I’m the Cuban cabby. I’m the Cuban cabby.

The taxi drivers drive you frantic, you know.
Hop on my rig it’s more romantic, and so.
You want to ride…
A night full of splendor and you can depend upon me.
I’m the Cuban cabby. And I need dinero (money that is, I’m broke).

The moon is peeping, the shadows creeping
It’s time for riding through the park.
A lovely night for lovers
The same as you two are.

If you like music, I’ll give you music
As we go riding in the dark.
I’ll sing a Spanish love song
To the strains of my guitar.

My horse and carriage has been hired, señor.
For just as long as you desire, señorita.

We’re gonna ride
We’re gonna ride
We’re gonna ride

Here’s rathergood.com‘s silly video of the song. Actually, I think this is where I first heard it.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything from the ’80s… probably because I’m usually stuck in the ’70s.
