Mirrors

Posted by Heather On February - 24 - 2010

Mirrors have always been featured prominently in Lost. In Season 6, Episode 5: The Lighthouse we see a Who poster (I think – see images below) in Jack’s son David’s room. We saw Jack’s childhood home in the lighthouse mirrors and then we saw Jack smash the mirrors. Since I love The Who, I’m posting a couple of possibly relevant songs from Tommy.

Perry Como – Catch a Falling Star

Posted by Heather On April - 2 - 2009

Kate sang this song to Aaron when she took him out of the car in LOST Season Five: Whatever Happened, Happened. The first time we heard about the song was in LOST Season One: Raised by Another when Claire asked Aaron’s prospective adoptive parents to promise to sing it to him. She says it’s the song her dad used to sing to her. We also heard “Catch a Falling Star” in LOST Season Two: Maternity Leave when Claire turns on the mobile in the nursery in the hatch where she was held captive.

Perry Como – Catch a Falling Star, 1957.

Perry Como – Catch a Falling Star Lyrics

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder
Some starless night
Just in case you feel you want to hold her
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight

Catch a falling star and ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away ( Never let it fade away )
Catch a falling star and ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day ( Save it for a rainy day )

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder
Some starless night
And just in case you feel you want to hold her
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight

( . . . pocketful of starlight! ) [ hm hm hm hm hm hm ]

Catch a falling star and ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away ( Never let it fade away )
Catch a falling star and ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day ( Save it for a rainy . . . Save it for a rainy, rainy rainy day )

For when your troubles start multiplying
And they just might
It’s easy to forget them without trying
With just a pocketful of starlight

Blues Image – Ride Captain Ride from Open, 1970.

Blues Image – Ride Captain Ride Lyrics

Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here’s what they had to say
“We’re callin’ everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more”

But no one heard them callin’, no one came at all
‘Cause they were too busy watchin’ those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin’ out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off to history

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed

Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Got off of their ship, and here’s what they had to say
“We’re callin’ everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more”

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip

Geronimo Jackson – Dharma Lady Lyrics

Posted by Heather On March - 17 - 2009

(From the Dharma Lady Booklet)

“Dharma Lady”
Keith Strutter

Dharma Lady, How’ve you been?
Are we lovers (or are we just friends?)
I believe, I believe I’m in love again

Yeah you’re kissin’, it feels so right
But you had another man holed up last night
Oh I believe, Yeah I believe I’m in love again

Say one thing once and two things twice
I’m so confused I can’t take my own advice
Oh I believe, Yeah I believe I’m in love again

I can always tell when you’ve been drinkin’
But I never know just what you’re thinkin’
Oh I believe, Oh I believe I’m in love again

I believe
I believe
I’m in love again

Geronimo Jackson – Dharma Lady

Posted by Heather On March - 17 - 2009

Dharma Lady by Geronimo Jackson is the song that Jin is playing in his light blue DHARMA VW van when he finds Jack, Hurley, and Kate following their return to the island (LOST Season 5: Episode 316). Dharma Lady is an adaptation of Excelsior Lady by The Donkeys.
And….. here it is!
